Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore

Built-in 1945 to serve Indore and the surrounding areas of Madhya Pradesh, the airport was named after Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the ruler of Indore during the Maratha Empire. Only 8 kilometres from the heart of Indore sits the state's busiest airport. The Indore airport is the twentieth busiest in India. Once the airport's runways were lengthened in 1996, it could begin serving international passengers.

Indore Airport is served by several domestic airlines, including Air India, Jet Airways, JetKonnect, SpiceJet, and IndiGo. Indore is linked to other major cities in India via domestic flights.

These cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bhopal. Approximately 40 and 30 weekly flights, respectively, depart from Indore for Mumbai and New Delhi, the two most popular destinations served by the city's airport. Getting to other major cities like Sharjah, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok is easy thanks to the airports in the area.

There are two check-in areas at the Indore airport. The airport's domestic terminal is well-prepared for high passenger throughput. Inaugurated in 2012, the new international terminal can handle at least 700 passengers per hour. The new terminal has 16 check-in counters, and 16 immigration counters, and can accommodate 46 different flight services daily.
