Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala

The Airports Board of India then began project work for the new integrated terminal building (NITB) in 2017 at an estimated cost of 500 crores to meet the ever-increasing traffic demands. The new Integrated Terminal building, with cutting-edge infrastructure, will be a landmark for the state of Tripura, with a handling capacity of 3 million passengers per year. The new terminal building, with a built-up area of 30,000 square metres, is designed to handle 1,000 domestic and 200 international passengers during peak hours and will be outfitted with all modern amenities.

The new Agartala airport terminal will have 20 check-in counters, six parking bays (all power in and push back), four-passenger boarding bridges, conveyor belts, and passenger-friendly modern facilities and amenities such as Inline baggage system (ILBS), Escalators, Lifts, and so on.

Aside from the New Terminal building, two new taxiways, an A-321 hangar, a new isolation bay, a CISF barrack, an E&M workshop, and a new operational boundary wall have all been built at a cost of around Rs. 113.00 crores. A new Cargo Terminal with a one-time holding capacity of 40,150 MT is also under construction in Agartala and is expected to be completed by December 2021 for Rs. 14.50 crore. This will catalyse the quick movement of goods and produce, including perishable items.
