It recently conducted the Swachh Sarvekshan survey for the cleanest cities in India for 2023-2024. This survey is conducted under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It is a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative launched by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is conducted to assess and rank cities and towns based on cleanliness. The cleanliness of these cities is achieved by proper waste management. Municipal Corporations of these cities can successfully convert and recycle waste and reduce pollution. In this way, they are improving the health of the residents of these cities.

Because of the Swacch Sarvekshan survey, Indian cities are motivated to improve their sanitation infrastructure, waste management systems, and overall cleanliness. This survey encourages healthy competition among Indian cities. Based on these parameters, this survey can identify the cleanest cities in India. Until February 2024, the study of Swachh Bharat had ranked Indore as the number 1 cleanest city in India. The second position is backed by Surat and followed by all the Indian cities on the list. Surprisingly, its list mentions those cities that were not expected to be clean. Yet, as the survey has reported, those mentioned in the list are correctly ranked as the cleanest cities in India.

1. Indore, Madhya Pradesh:

Indore backs the number 1 position for the cleanest city in India. It is situated in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This city has held the number-one ranking for seven consecutive years.
