1. Bathukamma Festival(September October):

Bathukamma Festival

Bathukamma Festival is one of the top festivals in Telangana. It is a festival of Colourful flowers. This festival is mainly before the onset of monsoon. This festival is mainly from September to October. This festival is long for 9 days and starts from Engili Pula Bathukamma on Mahalaya Amavasya. This festival ends with Saddula Bathukamma on Ashtami. During these ongoing days, Goddess Bathukamma is decorated with several colourful flowers. After these nine days, the Bathukamma goddess is immersed in the water. The main reason behind this festival is that flowers will naturally clean the rivers and lakes.

2. Bonalu Festival(July/August):

Bonalu Festival

Bonalu festival is celebrated in two marvellous cities of Telangana: Secunderabad and Hyderabad. This festival is celebrated in July and August, the month of Ashada. The famous thing about this festival is that women prepare the brass pot, Bonam, filled with milk, jaggery and cooked rice. The pot has been decorated with neem, turmeric and kumkum, which is offered to the Goddess by carrying it into their head. The great pooja was done for Goddess Mahakali Amma. The festival is celebrated at the Golconda Fort on the first Sunday, the Ujjaini Mahakali temple on the 2nd Sunday, and the Pochamma and Katta Maisamma temples on the third Sunday.

3. Peerla Panduga(on Muharrram festival):

It is the most prominent festival for Muslims, the most awaited festival for them and the people of Telangana. It is also known as Muharram, an important festival for Muslims. This festival is only called Peerla Panduga in Telangana. People offer prayers during this festival by chanting YaHussain, who represents a group of Sufi Muslims. Peerla Panduga is a festival for remembering Imam Hussain, and they mourn the death of Imam Hussein. This festival is also sorrowful for Muslims and is remembered for forgiveness.

4. Medaram Jatara(February):

Medaram Jatara

It is the biggest and most renowned festival in Telangana. It is a tribal festival in Telangana, also known as Sammakka Saralamma Jatara. This festival is celebrated mainly in the village of Medaram in Telangana every two years. This festival honours the mother and daughter goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma. According to the scriptures, these mothers’ daughters died during an epic fight celebrated on the evening of the full moon. They bring the Saralamma goddess from the Kanneboyina Palli village. Then, the other village people follow and get the Sammakka goddess from the town of Chilukalagutta. Almost 1.3 crore people attend this Jatara after the Kumbh Mela. This festival is celebrated at Medaram and lasts for around 4 days. The Medaram Fair was celebrated from 16 February 2024 to 19 February 2024.

5. Peddagattu Jatara(February end):

It is a renowned tribal festival. It is one of the most prominent religious and tribal festivals of Telangana. It is Telangana’s second biggest gathering festival, celebrated every two years. It is a festival celebrated in the name of Goddess Chowdamma, Lord Lingamanthulu, and the other presiding deities. This festival lasts five days and offers various pujas to the gods. The people believe these gods are Lord Shiva’s incarnation and his sister Choudamma. This festival, or Jatara, is attended by 10 to 15 lakh devotees. This festival is celebrated at Durajpally for Five days.

6. Nagampalli(February):

This is a festival celebrated in the Medak district of Telangana. This festival also signifies and honours the seven rivers, which are Manjeerariver and offered pooja to the river for ages. This festival is basically for removing their sins and paying their honours to the deities. A large number of devotees sacrifice chickens and sheep to please the Goddess for the fulfilment of their wishes. The amazing thing about this festival is that devotees spend one night praying to the Goddess.This festival is celebrated at Idupulapaya, Medak district, with around 5 lakh devotees.

7. Kurumurthy Swamy Jatara(October to November):

The Telangana people celebrate this festival for seven days. This festival is celebrated at the oldest temple of Telangana, Sri Kurumurthy Swamy temple. This temple is considered for Thirupathi, God of the poor. This festival is for Lord Vishnu’s deity, and the SriVari Uddava Seva is essential to the Brahmotsavalu celebration. In this celebration, the footwear of the lord is presented to Kurumurthy Swamy in the presence of thousands of devotees. A significant number of people celebrate this festival. This festival is celebrated at Kurupathi hills, Mahbubnagar district. The festival lasts for around seven days.

8. Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy Jatara(January to April):

The festival is celebrated in the temple in the Komuravelli village of Siddipet district. Many Devotees offer prayers to Lord Shiva at this festival, basically at times of Maha Shivratri. There is an excellent fair at this festival which is an attraction of the whole of Telangana. The temple balcony is decorated with Rangoli by the Oggu Pujari group. This festival is celebrated by a minimum of 10000 people from all over Telangana. A small number of people celebrate this festival. This festival is celebrated at Komuravelli, Siddipet district. The festival lasts for Two-Three months i.e from Sankranthi and lasts till the Telugu New Year Ugadi.

9. Chittaramma Jatara(Based in Telugu Calender usually in January):-

This festival is celebrated in the temple at GajulaRamaram village in Hyderabad. This festival is considered one of the most famous festivals in Telangana. This festival is celebrated according to the Telugu calendar during the PushyaMasam. The people honour the Chittaramma, the grama devata or the local Goddess of the Gajularamaram village. This festival is celebrated by a lakh people from different parts of the state. This festival is celebrated at Gajularamaram. This festival lasts for only One day.

Manual-e-Mulki is an annual consumer exhibition, also known as the Numaish Festival, held in Telangana in Hyderabad. This festival is celebrated at Nampally. This festival is celebrated by a lakh people from different parts of the state. This festival is celebrated at Nampally, Hyderabad. This festival lasts for 46 days.

12. Neeladri Bonalu (January):

Neeladri Bonalu, celebrated in January in Secunderabad, Telangana, is a vibrant competition committed to the goddess Mahankali.
