Varanasi Tourism
Varanasi is India's spiritual capital and the world's oldest living city, also known as Kashi
(City of Life) and Benaras. It is one of the seven sacred towns in Hinduism. Varanasi's historic city is
sprawled over a maze of small alleyways along the Ganges' western bank. Prepare to encounter some sacred cows
while walking on foot! Varanasi is surrounded by temples on practically every corner, but the Kashi Vishwanath
Temple is the most well-known and oldest. For good reason, Benaras is recognized as the city of Lord Shiva.
Varanasi is seen to be a good place to die since it is thought to provide moksha, or escape from the cycle of
life and death. The city's spiritual core comes alive around the ghats, which number over 80 and line the
Ganges. Prepare yourself for the sights, sounds, and odours! The spicy chaat and refreshing lassi are not to
be missed. All of the turmoil and noise on the ghats comes to a halt just before sunset, when the Ganga Aarti,
a magnificent ceremonial, begins.
