Vellayani Lake is a freshwater lake found in the neighbourhood of Vellayani, which can be found in the state of Kerala, India, around 10 kilometres from Kovalam. It is the district of Thiruvananthapuram's largest freshwater lake, and it is a popular tourist destination known for its peaceful surroundings and picturesque views. The Vellayani River, which flows into the lake and has its source in the Western Ghats, is an important source of irrigation water and drinking water for the surrounding area. The river feeds the lake. The lake is home to a wide range of plant and animal life, some of which are threatened with extinction, such as the Indian Python and the Spot-billed Pelican.
