Itinerary Details
Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam. Meet and greet by the tour representative and transfer to your hotel. Check-in at the hotel and freshen up. In the evening, visit the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered temples in Assam. Explore its unique architecture and spiritual significance. Enjoy a leisurely evening along the Brahmaputra River, perhaps taking a river cruise (if available). Overnight stay in Guwahati.
After an early breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya (approximately a 3-4 hour journey). En route, visit the Umiam Lake (also known as Barapani Lake) for its scenic beauty. You can also enjoy boating here. Continue your drive to Shillong and check-in at your hotel. In the evening, explore Police Bazaar, a bustling market known for local handicrafts and street food. Overnight stay in Shillong.
After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Cherrapunjee (Sohra), famous for its breathtaking natural beauty (approximately 2-3 hours drive from Shillong). Visit the following attractions in Cherrapunjee. Nohkalikai Falls- Admire the tallest plunge waterfall in India, Mawsmai Cave- Explore the fascinating limestone caves, and Living Root Bridges - Witness the iconic living bridges of Meghalaya, such as the Double Decker Root Bridge. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Shillong in the evening and rest at your hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel in Shillong. Drive back to Guwahati (approximately 3-4 hours) for your departure. Depending on your flight/train departure time, you can visit the Assam State Museum or explore additional attractions in Guwahati. Transfer to the airport or railway station, marking the end of your Assam and Meghalaya tour.
